“ BREAKING OLD CYCLES TO CREATE NEW CYCLES”

Although U.S. teen pregnancy rates have declined in the past 30 years, specific rates and disparities continue to negatively affect certain groups of adolescent females such as:

  • Teen mothers are less likely to complete high school and therefore more likely to receive public aid1
  • Black teen mothers are twice as likely to have more than one child before the age of 202
  • Teen mothers that graduate are less likely to acquire gainful employment and avoid being a long-term recipient of public aid3
  • Children born to teen mothers are more likely to experience a teen birth4

The ABAM Foundation aims to help teen mothers, ages 13-17, break one cycle to create new cycles of life and prosperity for themselves and their children. And exactly how does this happen?
